Each year, the MN League presents material to keep coaches current on national curriculum developments and provide a tailored agenda specific for coaches and teams here in Minnesota. In addition, Leaders’ Summit events allow coaches and team directors to meet and reconnect directly with other team leaders and MN League core staff.
Our current season’s Leaders’ Summits have both been completed. Leaders’ Summits are typically held in the spring, between February and April. Please check back for announcements of future Leaders’ Summits. A summary of the recent Leaders’ Summits follows.
LEADERS’ SUMMIT 1
- For Returning Coaches, Head Coaches, and Team Directors
This event featured roundtable discussions and opportunities to collaborate and learn from other attendees, as well as from MN League Core Staff. From NICA policies and procedures to team organization, and coaching structures, this event offered an opportunity for teams to listen, share and discuss topics critical to helping everyone prepare for the 2021 season.
LEADERS’ SUMMIT 2
- For New Coaches or Coaches that have not yet attended a Leaders’ Summit
This Leaders’ Summit will focus on helping new coaches who are working on getting a new team up and biking! At this event, coaches will gain an understanding of the core NICA coaching curriculum – currently being used in 30 other leagues across the nation – that forms the foundation for effectively starting and supporting a team. An example of topics covered will be risk management, core coaching philosophy, effective practice planning, and much more. Beyond learning critical information for how to coach and manage a team, this is also an opportunity to connect and meet other coaches in the MN league.
